LOCAL SERVICE
INTERESTED IN SERVING THE LOCAL COMMUNITY?
CCM engages in various activities throughout the year to give back to both the ODU and Norfolk communities.
St. Mary’s Casserole Program to Benefit St. Mary’s Soup Kitchen
Each month, we come together to prepare, cook, and freeze casseroles. The frozen meals are then transported to St. Mary’s Basilica Soup Kitchen in downtown Norfolk, feeding over 300 people for dinner four nights a week throughout the year.
Monarch Pantry
The Monarch Pantry is a food pantry available to all ODU students enrolled in classes for the current semester, run by the office of Leadership & Learning. The Monarch Pantry, located in the Webb Center, provides a variety of fresh foods, nonperishable food items, and personal hygiene items to students who can utilize the resource once per week.
Monarchs Give Back Community Service Project
Each Fall Semester, the campus undertakes an initiative called Monarchs Give Back Community Service Project. This food drive collects items to support students in need on campus, through the Monarch Pantry, and in the Norfolk community, through Norfolk Public Schools. The drive ends with a celebration at the Mitchum Basketball Performance Center on the Friday of Homecoming Week.
Other opportunities will be posted in the weekly bulletin, the weekly email, and on the CCM Facebook page as they come.
